We’ve had a fantastic breakthrough in our campaign to try to stop the Federal Government from tearing up regulations that are designed to keep us safe. Last week, Greens Senator Janet Rice submitted a motion to disallow proposed changes to the Gene Technology Regulations that would leave risky new genetic modification techniques such as CRISPR unregulated. The Senate will vote on the motion on September 17th.
Now, we need your help
The Australian Labor Party will be critical to ensuring that this disallowance motion is successful. Please take a few minutes to email the Shadow Health Minister Chris Bowen to demand that Labor supports the Greens in blocking this deregulation attempt. If you’ve already emailed him – why not give him a call?
Can we count on your support?
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our work. This motion was submitted because we were able to travel to Canberra to make our case. Being in front of politicians makes all the difference, but it costs money to get there. The next few months will be critical to our campaign and we really need your support.
