The Urban Orchard

October 31st, 2007

The first ever Urban Orchard will be held this Saturday 3 November at the Clarence Park Community Centre, 72-74 East Avenue, Black Forest. It will kick off at about 11am and be running until about 1.00pm. Feel free to pop in when you can, or stay for the morning – and don’t forget to bring your backyard or gleaned surplus!

The Urban Orchard will be run simultaneously with the Goodwood Goodfood Co-op 10 year celebrations, the Clarence Park Dry Food Co-op and the monthly LETS (Local Exchange and Trading System) Market – so it should be a hive of community food and exchange. Weather permitting, there will also be members of Friends of the Earth’s community food group screenprinting t-shirts for the upcoming Walk Against Warming. The t-shirts are intended to emphasise the importance of community food in the context of climate change, so bring a t-shirt and join in!

We now have downloadable pdfs for printing available here, together with the online questionnaire. Feel free to print some off and drop them in the letterboxes of your neighbours or other people in your area who you think might be interested. The questionnaire is currently available in English and Italian and more translations are in progress, based on the most spoken languages of the inner southern suburbs.
